The small town of Squamish is about an hour's drive from Vancouver and it’s one of my favourite places for outdoor adventures. I’ve always been a big fan of hiking and being in the mountains – they truly are my happy place. With the iconic Stawamus Chief, one of North America's largest granite formations, towering over the town, Squamish boasts some of the best views I’ve ever seen. But beyond the stunning scenery, the wide range of accommodation options makes a visit to Squamish even more special. Whether you’re searching for a cosy mountain cabin, a hotel on the main street, or maybe even an option closer to Vancouver, there’s something for every sort of traveller here. If you’re thinking of visiting – and I highly recommend it – here’s my pick of the best hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area.

Without a doubt, my number one pick for the best hotels to stay in Squamish is the Executive Suites Hotel. The spacious suites – which come with well-equipped kitchens – give you the flexibility to cook, making this one of the best hotels in Squamish for a longer stay.

I love when my hotel room has a view, and especially when there’s a private balcony that I can sit out on to enjoy it. Whether you want to savour your morning coffee outdoors or sip a glass of wine at sunset, the balcony on each suite is a wonderful perk of this hotel.

If you like outdoor activities, the wonderful thing about this hotel is there are world-class hiking and biking trails right outside the property. Plus, the hotel even lets you store your bike in your room for easy access and added peace of mind.

Many people, including me, travel to Squamish to unplug and connect with nature. Sunwolf Riverside Cabins is the perfect place to do just that. Located 15 minutes out of town, the cabins have a secluded feel that’s perfect for disconnecting and unwinding. The fact there are no televisions or WiFi and you’re surrounded by towering trees and mossy riverbanks only further encourages getting back to nature.

The cosy, modern cabins come with comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchens. This is also one of the best hotels in Squamish for dog owners. For a small fee, pets are welcome and the cabins even come with pet beds, dishes, and treats.

If you do end up booking here, make sure to visit the hotel's restaurant, Fergies Cafe, for the best brunch in town. I’m normally a savoury breakfast person, but the French toast here can’t be beaten.

The Sandman Hotel and Suites is one of the best hotels in Squamish for families. It’s got an awesome waterslide and pool that the kids will absolutely love. If you’ve ever been to Squamish or the Vancouver area, then you’ll know that rain is a common occurrence, so the heated indoor pool is a nice addition for those rainy days.

The hotel also happens to be one of the newest in the area, so the rooms are fresh and beautiful. It’s about a five-minute drive from downtown Squamish, but there’s a great brewery and cidery just down the street.

Backcountry Brewing is an awesome spot for local beers and scrumptious wood-fired pizzas. And while Geo Cider obviously sells delicious local ciders, it also happens to have massive burritos that are to die for.

Recently renovated and in a prime location downtown, the August Jack Motor Inn is one of the best hotels in Squamish for those who want to be in the heart of the action. Sometimes you just want a comfortable place to rest in a great location, especially if you’re planning to be out and about all day. The August Jack Motor Inn ticks all the boxes without sacrificing comfort.

Its location makes it easy to explore Squamish’s downtown shops and restaurants, and you're only a three-minute walk from a local favourite restaurant on the waterfront, The Broken Seal.

I highly recommend stopping in for one of the best cocktails you’ll find in Squamish. They also serve a selection of shareable plates (but you really can’t go wrong with anything from the menu here).

Nita Lake Lodge is technically located in Whistler, a 45-minute drive away from Squamish. However, this is still one of the best hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area if you’re willing to venture a bit further. You still get those stunning mountain views and there are a few more restaurants and bars than you’ll find in Squamish.

The award-winning property is one of the finest luxury hotels in the area and the stunning guestrooms and classy amenities make it an excellent choice for those looking for a refined mountain escape. The large rooms all have heated flooring, fireplaces, spacious showers, and soaker tubs.

I love its location right on Nita Lake, and the fact that hotel guests can canoe, kayak, or paddleboard on the lake for free is the cherry on top. For me, it’s the perfect way to relax and take in the views.

If you’re more of a city person but still want to be close to Squamish, the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier is a great choice in North Vancouver. In just under an hour, you can be in Squamish for a day of exploring the stunning scenery.

What makes this hotel one of the best hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area is its fantastic location right on the waterfront. While it’s not directly in downtown Vancouver, it’s still surrounded by restaurants and shopping as well as being within close access of the Sea-to-Sky Highway, making day trips out to Squamish a breeze.

I recommend booking a harbour-view room for gorgeous vistas of the Vancouver skyline and the harbour. Rooms are spacious and luxurious, and there’s a surprisingly large pool for lane swimming, plus a well-equipped gym.

I stayed at this Vancouver hotel this past summer and loved every minute of it. Its location in the heart of downtown Vancouver is just one of the reasons it’s on my list of the best hotels in Squamish and its surrounds. Although it’s about an hour's drive to Squamish, the Fairmont Waterfront is a great choice for travellers looking for an upscale hotel in the city.

When I stayed there, I was fortunate enough to get a room on the Gold Floor, which I highly recommend for an extra special experience. The Gold Floor offers a private check-in and check-out service and – my favourite part – access to the Gold Lounge, with complimentary breakfast, afternoon snacks, and evening canapés.

The downtown location means you’re steps away from many of Vancouver's attractions, so you get the best of both worlds: easy access to Vancouver's city life and the natural beauty of Squamish.

This award-winning property has more than enough accolades under its belt to earn its spot as one of the best hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area. It has been awarded two Michelin Keys for good reason.

The spacious and luxurious rooms, award-winning spa, fitness centre with daily group classes, and gorgeous outdoor pools and sauna all come together to make an amazing property.

However, despite all of the wonderful amenities, my favourite thing about this hotel is the world-class service that makes every guest feel truly cared for. Located about a 50-minute drive from Squamish, this hotel provides a beautiful blend of luxurious charm and mountain vibes.

The suites at the Pan Pacific are perfect for travellers planning a longer stay or for those who prefer to cook for themselves while on vacation. You’ll feel right at home in these spacious accommodations, which all come with well-equipped kitchens.

Yet despite the homey feel, this hotel doesn’t skimp on luxury. The included breakfast has many hot and cold items to choose from and the pool, hot tubs, and sauna are perfect for unwinding in after a busy day exploring. I particularly love the hotel's free shuttle, a great perk after a long day of hiking, biking, or skiing.

Its location in Whistler Village is perfect for exploring the downtown restaurants and shops, and it’s just under an hour's drive to Squamish, so you can easily spend the day out in nature and return for cozy evenings in Whistler.

This is one of the best hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area for foodies, as it's set in Vancouver's historic arts and dining neighbourhood. Around 55 minutes from Squamish, The Seaside Hotel in North Vancouver is the perfect option for those wanting to take in Squamish’s nature views while still enjoying plenty of urban comforts.

It's one of the best boutique hotels in Squamish and the surrounding area due to its impeccable service. I often find that smaller hotels like this one offer a more personalized touch, and the Seaside Hotel does just that.

If you do end up staying here, I recommend checking out the hotel's restaurant, Seaside Provisions, which is known for its oysters and seafood. While I’m not an oyster fan, I do love charcuterie, and you can’t go wrong with the selection here.
