I can’t really explain it, but the mountains heal my soul. Whistler is just a couple of hours away from the third largest metropolitan area in Canada, but it feels a whole world away. The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola provides access to the terrain of two mountains in summer and winter. It’s great for sightseeing, hiking, mountain biking and winter sports. Below the mountains is a bustling alpine community with fantastic restaurants, bars, boutique shops, museums, and galleries. A variety of festivals and events happen year-round and there are beautiful lakes, waterfalls, parks, golf courses and trails to explore. The region is home to some of the top hotels in Canada – these are my picks for the 10 best hotels in Whistler.

There’s a lot to love about the Four Seasons Resort Whistler, but the thing I like best is the incredible service. The guestrooms are incredibly spacious too, while the hotel’s chic signature restaurant, SIDECUT Steakhouse, has a great apres-ski scene. The spa has won plenty of awards and there’s a fitness centre with a full roster of classes.

The resort’s outdoor heated pools, hot tubs and outdoor sauna are simply gorgeous. There are tiny bathrobes for kids and a ski concierge who helps with all things ski-related. This resort also has a free shuttle that makes it easy to get around the village without a car.

I love the location of this hotel. It’s a little further from the gondolas than its sister property, Pan Pacific Mountainside, but it’s right in the heart of Whistler Village close to restaurants, shops, museums and other attractions.

This is one of the best hotels in Whistler for a longer stay. Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre is an all-suite property and all of the studio, one- and two-bedroom suites have fully equipped kitchens, fireplaces and balconies. It feels more like a classy apartment than a hotel.

The complimentary breakfast buffet has a nice selection – think eggs, hash browns, bacon, and a range of cold items. There’s a great on-site restaurant, a pool, hot tubs, and a sauna. There’s also a free shuttle to get you around town. Tip: Stock your fridge at Whistler Grocery Store, a five-minute walk away. Whistler Day Spa and Whistler Golf Course are also nearby.

I stayed at this Michelin Key-awarded resort the first time I visited Whistler and I have fond memories of sitting around a patio firepit taking in views of the lake. Nita Lake Lodge is Whistler’s only lakefront hotel, making it one of the best hotels in Whistler for a peaceful retreat.

If you visit the lodge in summer, you can canoe, kayak or paddleboard on the lake or borrow a bicycle to explore the area’s bike trails (those amenities are free for hotel guests). Year-round there’s a lovely walking trail along the lake.

The lodge has a free shuttle to get you around Whistler Village and other great amenities like a fitness centre, rooftop hot tubs, a pool, a barrel sauna, great on-site restaurants and lounges, and an exceptionally good spa. Guestrooms are spacious and have heated floors, fireplaces, soaker tubs and showers.

This hotel has a sweet location if you’re in Whistler for a ski vacation. It’s set slopeside, just steps from the ski resort and gondolas. You can sit on the hotel’s back deck and watch skiers making their way down the slopes.

The location of this hotel makes it one of the best hotels in Whistler for a ski vacation. The Pan Pacific Mountainside is an all-suite property. The suites vary in size, but the studio, one and two-bedroom suites, all have well-equipped kitchens, fireplaces and balconies.

I love the mountain views from the outdoor heated pool and hot tub and from the patio of the on-site restaurant, the Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub. This casual pub is a great spot to apres-ski after a day on the slopes. Tip: Get a delicious fried pastry that resembles the tail of Canada’s national animal at Beavertails, a three-minute walk from the resort.

Ski-in, ski-out doesn’t get better than this. Located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is one of the best hotels in Whistler for those who like the finer things in life.

I love all the amenities this resort has to offer. While I’m not an avid golfer, my husband is, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club is a beautiful course worth playing if you visit in the summer. The property also has a wonderful spa, great restaurants, a health club, pools, hot tubs, saunas, toboggan rentals and more. I love the luxurious feel of the hotel – something you expect from a Fairmont property – but it still has that alpine-inspired decor and laid-back vibe of a true ski resort. Guestrooms are plush and well-appointed. Gold floor rooms have their own concierge and access to a private lounge with complimentary breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres.

This is one of the best hotels in Whistler if you want a room with a view. The spacious one and two-bedroom suites all have large windows offering wonderful vistas. If you splurge on a hot tub suite, you can take in the view from the private hot tub on the deck. There’s also a rooftop hot tub for post-ski soaks. One of the things I like best about this property is its prime location near the gondola. The guestrooms are super comfortable with equipped kitchens, gas fireplaces and bathrooms with heated slate floors, soaker tubs and showers. Some rooms have balconies.

There are three on-site restaurants: Sushi Village, Mexican Corner and Black's Pub. There are also guest laundry facilities and there’s always coffee in the lobby. From the hotel it’s a short walk to the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, where you can learn about the Indigenous Peoples of this area.

Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel is one of the most unique hotels in Whistler. Honestly, they had my heart as soon as I saw the adorable stuffed animals on the beds. I just love the quirky little touches at this property.

The comfy guestrooms are nicely decorated and they all have balconies and fireplaces. The on-site Indonesian-style spa is a must-visit and the on-site restaurant, Elements, is also very good.

Summit Lodge is located in town so it’s one of the best hotels in Whistler if you want to be walking distance from shopping, restaurants, and bars. If you’re feeling peckish, Purebread, one of the best bakeries and coffee shops in town, is right across the street. Beyond its cute decor and prime location, Summit Lodge offers a nice outdoor heated pool and hot tub and some of the friendliest hotel staff you’ll find.

Although Evolution Whistler is not a ski-in, ski-out property, it's a short 10-minute walk to get to the Creekside Gondola. It’s also right next door to a Tim Hortons, a Canadian favourite, so you can grab your morning coffee or breakfast easily before heading out for the day.

This is one of the best hotels in Whistler for families or large groups. The one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites have fully equipped kitchens, in-suite laundry, and separate living and dining areas.

The property also has plenty of amenities including an outdoor heated pool, two hot tubs, a sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, a fitness centre, a games room and a media room that shows movies twice daily. There’s a great wood-fired pizza restaurant across the street called Creekbread – there’s just something about a piping hot pizza that really hits the spot after a long day of skiing or hiking.

Just steps away from the Creekside Gondola, this ski-in, ski-out resort is the quintessential mountainside ski lodge. The cosy lobby with its crackling stone fireplace is the perfect invitation to relax after a busy day of skiing or hiking.

I appreciate the spacious guestrooms, with living rooms and kitchens included. It’s a great option for families and allows for quality time spent together, whether you’re cooking a meal, playing a board game, or watching a movie.

The expansive balconies, heated pool and hot tub all encourage time spent outside in the gorgeous mountain scenery. Whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee al fresco or unwinding in the evening, the gorgeous mountain views and comfy rooms make this one of the best hotels in Whistler.

Cosy suites and a prime location with ski-in, ski-out access are highlights of this property. The hotel feels truly mountain-inspired with its stone accents and rustic wooden beams.

The spacious condo-style guestrooms with well-equipped kitchens and in-suite laundry make this one of the best hotels in Whistler, especially for families or larger groups.

One of my favourite features of this hotel is the heated outdoor pool and hot tub. My family inevitably ended up in the outdoor hot tub after a busy day on the slopes. I have fond memories of the kids challenging each other to roll in the snow and then hop into the warm pool or hot tub. This hotel also has a children’s games room, a media room where movies are played, a fitness centre and barbecue facilities.
