I was impressed with how multicultural the city is and how many amazing restaurants and different types of cuisine there are to explore. This is a city on the edge of everything, from abundant farm fields to neighbouring municipalities. Abbotsford’s prime location has attracted family-friendly chain hotels, boutique inns, conference hotels and luxury properties. Here’s my pick of the 10 best hotels in Abbotsford and the surrounding area, curated on multiple visits to this remarkable city.

Brookside Inn Boutique Hotel is one of the best luxury hotels in Abbotsford. I love the way it smells of lilacs as you walk through the front door in springtime.

The three-story, adults-only boutique hotel has great views of Mount Baker. It’s tucked away in a local neighbourhood, well away from the noise and traffic of the busy city. Each of the six rooms is decorated to match the theme of a different classic movie, like Roman Holiday or The Thomas Crown Affair. If you haven’t seen the film, you’ll find a DVD of it in the room.

A delicious complimentary farm-to-plate continental breakfast is served in the Breakfast at Tiffany’s Dining Lounge. Top tip: The hosts at the inn are avid birders and can tell you where all the best birding spots are.

Sometimes bigger is better. The Sandman has the largest rooms of any hotel in town. All of the guestrooms are suites with fully equipped kitchens and most have washers and dryers. This is one of the best hotels in Abbotsford if you’re in town for a longer stay or if you’re traveling with children. There are also a couple of rooms with bunkbeds, which are great for families.

One of the things I like best about this hotel is its location. It’s about a five-minute walk to Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, a huge mall with more than 100 stores and restaurants. There’s also a Denny’s onsite that does room service.

The staff are all super friendly. Ask for a quiet room and they’ll do their best to put you on the side furthest away from the traffic.

First impressions matter, and this hotel’s lobby blew me away when I saw it. The upper walls are painted with a mural mountain scene and there’s a beautiful chandelier and a faux-balcony.

The pet-friendly property is centrally located, just a short walk to restaurants, grocery stores, bars and nightlife. A heated indoor pool, a free continental breakfast, and a newly renovated fitness centre are all huge assets.

Guestrooms have been recently updated and come with mini fridges and in-room Starbucks®️ coffee and tea. Coast hotels has trademarked what the company calls Refreshingly Local™ service and the Abbotsford location has really great staff members who take care of guests.

This is one of the best hotels in Abbotsford if you’re traveling with a dog. It has pet-friendly rooms and it’s an easy walk to Delair Park, which has great walking trails and nice views of Mount Baker – a real must-visit.

With 24,000 square feet of meeting, event and tradeshow space, the Clarion attracts a lot of business travelers and groups, but it’s also really popular with families. Castle Fun Park, a huge amusement park, is right next door. The hotel has a pool, hot tub, gym, business centre and an on-site White Spot restaurant that offers discounts to hotel guests.

The guestrooms were renovated in 2023, and all have coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators. The hotel is also conveniently located just off the Trans-Canada Highway. If you want a particularly quiet room, ask for one on the back side of the property.

With a name based on a fairy tale about a princess who couldn’t get to sleep, the owners of this boutique spot insisted on having extra comfy beds. Built in the 1880s, it’s one of the oldest hotels in British Columbia. Set in Langley, about a 25-minute drive from Abbotsford International Airport, it’s also one of the best hotels in Abbotsford and the surrounding area.

I love heritage properties with character, and this is one of my favourites. There are six rooms with ensuite bathrooms, each named after a different fairy tale.

Despite the fairy tale names, the property is geared more towards adults. If you visit in autumn, book a tour at the Bog Riverside Cranberry Farm nearby. There you’ll put on hip waders and wade into a cranberry bog surrounded by red cranberries – one of the coolest things I’ve done in Langley.

The thing I like most about this property is the incredible views. Located about 30 metres above the Fraser River, you can watch the sunset, scan the sky for eagles, and spot deer, bears and friendly raccoons from the deck of this family-run B&B lodge.

The B&B feels very secluded, but it’s only about 10 minutes from the City of Chilliwack and 25 minutes from downtown Abbotsford. There are three rooms with private ensuites; one comes with a kitchenette. A hot made-to-order breakfast can be included with any stay.

There’s a dock right on the property and the lodge fills up with people on guided fishing expeditions during the fall. The Fraser River is particularly famous for catch and release sturgeon fishing. Reeling in a massive prehistoric sturgeon is an unforgettable experience that Ihighly recommend.

I love a good included breakfast, and this hotel has one of the best in the area. With pancakes, bacon or sausages, eggs, cinnamon rolls and a variety of cold items available at the breakfast buffet, you won’t leave hungry.

Amenities include an indoor pool and a fitness centre. Meanwhile, all the guestrooms have refrigerators, microwaves and Keurig coffee makers. Rooms facing the highway have mountain views, but those facing the municipal airport are quieter.

The hotel is located in Chilliwack, about a 30-minute drive from downtown Abbotsford. It’s just off Highway 1 and a short drive from a range of restaurants and businesses. Elements Casino is a two-minute walk from the hotel.

Tip: Turn into the Petro Canada gas station to access the hotel – the property shares a parking lot with the gas station and it can be unclear how to access it.

Call me a cookie monster, but I love it when a hotel gives me freshly baked cookies at check-in. It’s a small thing, but it’s a sign that guests are important and appreciated. You really feel like they go the extra mile at this property – and not just because of the cookies.

Hampton Inn by Hilton Chilliwack is one of the best hotels in Abbotsford for families thanks to its indoor swimming pool, complete with a waterslide, and the free hot breakfast. The hotel also has a fitness centre, meeting rooms and a business centre.

The property is about a seven-minute drive from downtown Chilliwack and a 30-minute drive from Abbotsford. There’s no on-site restaurant, but all rooms have fridges, microwaves and coffeemakers.

These cute renovated cottages are about a 50-minute drive from Abbotsford in Harrison Hot Springs. It’s a great place to go in search of sasquatch, mythical beings are said to roam the mountains and forests nearby.

One of the best hotels in Abbotsford and the surrounding area, Bramblebank Cottages has seven cottages of varying sizes, including one house that can accommodate up to 12 people. The hotel is a short walk from the beach at Harrison Lake and it’s close to shops, restaurants and hiking trails. All cottages have fully equipped kitchens and there’s an outdoor barbecue, a hot tub, and kayaks that guests can use.

I have wonderful memories of exploring Harrison Hot Springs with my family and it’s well worth the drive. I recommend saving money by purchasing groceries in Abbotsford before heading up to the resort community.

I have fond memories of a family stay at this property many years ago. The Lodge at Harrison Lake has a private beach and a dock and even though it rained during our visit, we had a wonderful time.

The property is about a 50-minute drive from Abbotsford in Harrison Hot Springs, a beautiful resort community with hiking trails, beaches, lakes, rivers and some of the best fishing in the world. You can book fishing excursions right at the lodge and that’s what we did on our rainy day in Harrison Hot Springs.

The lodge has 15 rooms, all equipped with kitchens or kitchenettes. The new Geodome room is one of the most unusual rooms I’ve come across, with floor-to-ceiling windows inside a geodome. The views are stunning.
