Which is a shame, in the general sense, but I’ve grown to appreciate its anonymity. It allows me to make regular trips for beach getaways without big crowds, and have plenty of time to explore the local area. Biloxi is the largest city along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, famous for its casinos and shrimp boats. But it can also be a jumping off point for exploring the untouched nature of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, or the artsy enclaves of Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs. The casinos would be the obvious choices when trying to pick among the best hotels in Biloxi. But beyond those glittering towers you’ll find charming little beachside spots, grand historic resorts, and boutique hotels. The best hotels to stay in Biloxi all make a great home base for exploring Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, and are only the beginning of your adventure. Here’s my pick of the top 10.

The Beau Rivage is Biloxi’s most iconic hotel, a towering European-inspired structure that dominates the city’s skyline. It’s not only one of the best hotels in Biloxi, it’s also its most recognizable, and you’ll find it a popular weekend getaway for people from all over the region. The pool deck is my favourite spot, a massive resort space that feels tropical if you visit in early summer.

If you’re not into gambling, there’s still plenty to keep you entertained. I love booking an hour or two at the Top Golf suite, where in addition to golf you can play other sports simulators like baseball, hockey, or even a Zombie apocalypse shooting game.

The hotel’s Eight75 and Black Clover Lounge are two of the best cocktail bars in Biloxi, and while the city doesn’t have a cocktail scene per se, you’ll find some imaginative drinks at these spots.

Just across the bridge to the east of Biloxi sits Ocean Springs, my favourite beach town in the southeast. It’s a walkable, artsy village where you can bar hop listening to live music, then return to this beautifully designed hotel just off the main drag.

The Roost is the best boutique hotel in Biloxi, where each of the 6 rooms are uniquely designed and named after a different bird. The wood walls and elegant furniture make it feel more like a bed and breakfast, a calming respite after a long day on the beach.

The welcoming experience begins before you even check in, with creative cocktails at its indoor-outdoor bar. I also love to relax by the pool, shaded by towering oaks and magnolias. The Roost has won countless design awards, and its mix of chic aesthetics and warm hospitality make it hands down one of the best hotels in Biloxi.

The Scarlet Pearl is consistently the highest-rated hotel and casino in Biloxi, mainly because it has one of the most generous casino rewards programs in the city. The resort itself is also top-notch, with massive rooms boasting Gulf of Mexico views and a wide variety of restaurants.

In the past I’ve visited this place more for its food than its rooms, mostly because Ami Pizza serves the best pizza in town, and the steaks at Scarlet’s aren’t bad either.

If you’re looking for a pool to relax by, Scarlet Pearl is a great choice even if you’re not staying there. You can pick up an affordable day pass and lounge to your heart’s content, soaking up some sun before getting back to gaming. It’s one of the larger hotel pools in the city, and a big reason why this resort is one of the best hotels in Biloxi.

This casino hotel along Biloxi’s main drag offers some of the most unique rooms in the city. One of the best hotels in Biloxi, the high-ceiling loft suites are my favourite rooms here, and feel like staying in a cool urban loft. I always recommend requesting one of these rooms if you can, as the increased space and wider views make for a particularly enjoyable stay.

If you’re in town to play golf, Treasure Bay is a great move too, as it’s partnered with nearby Sunkist Country Club to give a considerable discount to guests.

There are several restaurants to choose from at the hotel, but I prefer to take my meals by the pool here. The food is pretty much the same as you get inside, but this way I can enjoy sunshine and live music with my wood-fired pizza.

The name of this beachside hotel in Biloxi has nothing to do with the famous strip of sand in Miami. But of all the best hotels in Biloxi this one is the beachiest, towering above white sandy shores and the Gulf of Mexico.

If I’m in the mood for a beach vacation, this is where I stay, since most rooms have big balconies overlooking the water. Some of the larger suites also come with full kitchens, if you prefer home cooking over venturing out.

The pool is another thing that makes this one of the best hotels in Biloxi. It sits right on the shoreline, so lounging on a chair feels like a day at the beach, minus the sand in mysterious places. I also love the deck chairs the hotel sets out on the boardwalk, perfect for people watching or enjoying the sunset.

When it comes to historic luxury hotels in Biloxi, nowhere beats this refined golf resort in Ocean Springs. It began as the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s first full-scale resort in 1927, a luxury escape with seaside villas and an 18-hole golf course. Elvis Presley would become one of its regulars, and before the casinos arrived Gulf Hills was Biloxi’s biggest draw.

Hurricanes, fires, and neglect wreaked havoc for decades until new ownership brought major renovations in 2021. The hotel is now back to its original splendoir, and is rightfully among the best hotels in Biloxi once again.

I haven’t stayed since the renovations, but I’ve been to the Sunset Lounge, which is a great little throwback bar with views over the golf course. In true Mississippi fashion, it opens at 9 am.

The closest airport to Biloxi is in Gulfport, about 25 minutes away on US-90. While I wouldn’t recommend staying near the airport if you’re trying to visit the city, if you need an airport hotel in Biloxi the Residence Inn is the place to book. Its design is more unique than most in this Marriott chain, built to resemble a coastal beach house.

The rooms are great for long-term stays, with full living rooms, work areas, and separate bedrooms. The one and two-bedroom suites also offer full kitchens, a welcomed amenity if you’re by the airport for a while.

I like staying here if I’m planning to explore the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast, from the artists’ enclave in Bay St. Louis to the beaches of Ocean Springs. Its central location is ideal for getting everywhere in the region in half an hour or less.

If you’re not in town to gamble and want a great mix of history and beach fun, my pick among the best hotels in Biloxi is the Hyatt Place. It sits just outside the classic Old French Cemetery, and a couple of blocks from Biloxi Lighthouse. It’s also across the street from Biloxi's public beach, and I love that everything is walkable from the hotel (a rarity here).

If you’ve stayed at a Hyatt Place, you know what to expect—modern rooms with views of the Gulf of Mexico and a massive breakfast buffet to start your mornings.

The pool is kind of a hidden gem too. It’s a lot larger than typical Hyatt Place pools and if you can snag one of the in-pool recliners it’s great for a little sunbathing. You can also see the Gulf from the pool deck, giving the place a distinct resort vibe.

My favourite part of this white-columned beachfront gem isn’t its ocean views or meandering front lawn—it’s the story of how it started. The hotel was once home to Cora and Walter White, and as summer guests became more frequent and demanding, Cora began charging them. This led to her starting a boarding house, which grew into several adjacent homes and ultimately into one of the grandest hotels along the Gulf Coast.

As often happens with historic hotels, it fell into disrepair in the latter part of the 20th century, and though it survived Hurricane Katrina, it was 2013 before the place got its grand reopening.

And grand it is, with a luxurious lagoon pool and lawns shaded by stately oak trees. Even if I’m not staying here, I’ll grab lunch at Cora’s, where I feel the Old South elegance while dining al fresco and gazing at the Gulf of Mexico.

This unassuming Hampton Inn just north of Biloxi in D’Iberville is consistently among the highest rated hotels in Biloxi. From the outside you might struggle to figure out why, as it doesn’t look much different than any other Hampton Inn. But it’s a fantastic value play if you’re visiting Biloxi, far more affordable than hotels right on the strip and only about 10 minutes by car from all the action.

I recommend this Hampton Inn to people if they’re coming in on a busy weekend, or need to get a few rooms for family. It’s also a great move if you want something affordable that’s not part of a casino, if you’re travelling with children for example. The breakfast, pool, and other amenities are all exactly what you’d expect from a Hampton Inn. So, for a great family hotel with no surprises, this is one of the best hotels in Biloxi.
