This is a gathering place for the entire city. Locals mingle with tourists in the casino, which is one of the resort’s (and the area’s) top attractions. These amenities paired with modern rooms and free parking easily make the Seneca one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls.

I love recommending the Seneca for travellers who want to have everything within easy reach and are looking for a vacation that’s packed with activities. Plus, the Rainbow Bridge is just 10 minutes by foot.

When I’m visiting the East Coast, I always search for quaint inns and family-owned bed and breakfasts. That’s because you get to stay in beautiful (often historic) buildings and enjoy next-level hospitality.

The Red Coach Inn is all that and more. Plus, it’s a mere 460 metres from the brink of Niagara Falls. It’s so close they advertise that “you can hear the roar” – a fact I can vouch for. The sprawling Tudor-style building was modelled after an inn in England and is a welcome departure from the tall modern buildings around it.

There are plenty of reasons to choose a stay at the Comfort Inn The Pointe. I love that from the front door of The Pointe you can walk directly into the park. Horseshoe Falls, which is the largest of the three falls, is less than 2 km away and a must-see. When it comes to location, The Pointe is easily one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls.

Location aside, you’ll be comfortable in the basic but clean rooms, which are outfitted with flat-screen TVs, in-room workspaces and coffeemakers.

When it comes to boutique hotels in Niagara Falls, the Cambria is hard to top. It’s situated just down the street from the official Niagara Falls visitor centre and is an easy walk from the falls’ observation point and the state park.

The rooms at the Cambria are sleek and modern, with enough savvy touches to impress picky family members or stuffy colleagues. Each has a Bluetooth mirror, a 50-inch (127-cm) TV and a Keurig coffee maker. If you’d rather buy your coffee, head downstairs to the hotel restaurant.

As one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls, the Cambria goes out of its way to cater to guests. One of my favourite things about the property is that you can eat in the hotel restaurant, order food to your room or grab a meal to-go – a handy option when you have a full day of sightseeing planned.

I love starting my day with a complimentary hotel breakfast – especially when I have a busy day ahead of me. And when it comes to breakfast, the Hampton Inn Niagara Falls delivers. You’ll find a hot breakfast (yes, waffle makers too) along with plenty of fresh fruit laid out daily. It’s the perfect way to kick off a day at Niagara Falls.

With the fuel from your breakfast, it's easy to make the 15-minute walk to the Rainbow Bridge or pop into the park and hop on a Maid of the Mist boat tour. Once the day’s sightseeing is done, you can kick back and relax in the indoor pool or hop on the free hotel Wi-Fi.

Certain rooms are pet-friendly – big dogs and cats too – which solidifies this property as one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls for all types of travellers.

Stepping into Hanover House is like stepping into another era – and another country. The interiors are distinctly Italian, making use of antique furniture and thoughtful touches. Each room is named after a member of royalty, including the Victoria & Albert Room and the Elizabeth Room.

What I love about this property is the extensive hot and cold breakfast you can expect each morning. In addition to the standard offerings, they promise “something sweet and special” every morning, along with hot chocolate, cookies and tea available on demand all day.

While almost 100 years old, the property is outfitted with air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. These elements, plus the fact that Hanover House is a short walk from the falls, make this one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls.

The Cadence is one of the newer properties on this list and, as such, has a fresh, modern look and feel. I love the classy use of grey for the rooms, with an occasional pop of colour, and the playful touches in the public spaces.

I highly recommend spending at least one evening at Sēvā Kitchen and Bar, the hotel restaurant, which feels like it belongs in a much larger city. In the morning, Sēvā draws guests for its sweet and savoury crepes and eggs Benedict, but in the evening, it transforms into a tapas and cocktail bar. If you’re visiting in the summer, you can enjoy your handcrafted cocktail on the outdoor patio.

The Cadence also has a stellar location. The property is situated directly across from the Niagara Falls visitor centre, near the entrance to the state park.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll fall in love with this bed and breakfast at first glance. It’s set in a historic, three-storey home that was originally built in 1913. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is set within the Park Place Historic District.

All those accolades mean you’ll be staying in an elegant but simple space. The rooms are all unique, with their own added perks, but I recommend booking the Marshall Room. It was the bedroom of choice for the property’s original owners and has an en suite bathroom.

The Marshall House is within walking distance of the falls and even closer to the trailhead for the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trail and the iconic Rainbow Bridge. It’s one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls if you’re looking for something unique, cozy and welcoming.

Everything is within reach of the Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Niagara Falls. The Seneca is just down the street and Goat Island is a 15-minute walk away. Its location, among other factors, makes this property one of the best hotels in Niagara Falls.

Inside, you’ll be treated to high-speed Wi-Fi and décor that feels almost retro, with bright colours and playful patterns. The rooms are all outfitted with workspaces, should you need to check on emails, and a free breakfast buffet is laid out each morning in the dining area.

One of my favourite things about the Fairfield is the year-round, indoor pool – a major plus if you tend to travel with kids, like I do. There’s also an adjacent fitness centre with big windows that let in lots of natural light.
