If you don’t mind the slightly dated decor, I think it’s great for its close proximity to some of Sacramento’s natural attractions, including Tiscornia Park and the American River Parkway Trail. As a bonus, it’s also a 5-minute walk to the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity.

The newly renovated rooms are decorated in bright whites and greys along with classical art, keeping things simple yet elegant. It’s one of the best hotels in Sacramento for those visiting on business, with personal work desks in each room, access to a business centre and meeting rooms for private gatherings.

I prefer it as a place to unwind, thanks to its cozy courtyard to relax in, or spend some time moving your body in the exercise room. With bars and restaurants just steps from the door, there are plenty of dining options nearby to choose from.

Housed inside a historic 10-storey building originally built in 1914, The Exchange Sacramento is part of the exclusive Curio Collection of the Hilton brand. What was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi has been transformed into one of the best fancy hotels in Sacramento, retaining much of its heritage along with modern furnishings.

The 100 rooms offer city views, along with bright splashes of colour from the décor, retro flooring and large, plush beds. While the hotel is just minutes from fantastic restaurants and bars at the Old Sacramento Waterfront, scheduling a meal at the onsite restaurant, Willow, is a must, and a place I would dine even as a non-guest.

As one of Sacramento’s most historic hotel complexes, Vizcaya is a unique place to stay in the city. The designated historical landmark is a full-service event venue that offers the perfect place to host a wedding or other occasion.

One of my favourite facts is that this Victorian mansion dates back to 1889. Now it offers just eight sleeping quarters renovated for complete luxury, with soaking tubs, decorative fireplaces, antique furniture, and a complimentary breakfast. The mansion is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and the Pavilion offers a focal point of the events.

Located just outside of midtown, it’s one of the best hotels in Sacramento if you want to stay outside of the bustling city centre but remain close enough to explore the main sights.
